* [[Just Train Wrong]]: Where to begin? In less then five minutes they mange to screw it up four times. First of all the designation of the train Elise boards in Gare de Lyon is Ter, which stands for Transport express régional in French and is thus a regional, not an international train. Second of all, in the first aerial shot of the train we see an Italian [[wikipedia:ETR 500|Frecciarossa ETR 500]] which is used only on Italian High Speed lines and therefor would have no business departing Gare de Lyon in France.Third of all for the second aerial shot, the rolling stock switches mysteriously to another Italian train (that had no business being in France) this time the tilting [[wikipedia:ETR 600|ETR 600 Pendolino]] also known as Frecciargento. As the shot changes, and we see the train enter a tunnel, we get the fourth mistake as the train switches back to a Frecciarossa.

* [[London Gangster]]: In his introductory scene Shaw is presented as [[The Mafiya|Russian]], but he's actually an English gangster who prefers to employ Russians.

* [[Mistaken Identity]]: The main plot revolves around Frank being mistaken for Alexander Pearce.

* [[Ms. Fanservice]]: The movie makes the most of Jolie's beauty.

* [[Reasonable Authority Figure]]: Inspector Jones, as a foil to Inspector Acheson.

* [[Running Gag]]: Frank keeps speaking Spanish when he means to use Italian. It gets [[Lampshaded]] at one point.

* [[Shout-Out]]: Paul Bettany mentioning [[A Knight's Tale|Lichtenstein]] can't be a coincidence.

* [[With My Hands Tied]]: Frank manages to escape from handcuffs twice, albeit once with assistance from Elise.

* [[Xanatos Roulette]]: Alexander's plan. {{spoiler|He told his wife to get on a particular train and pick out someone of his height and build at random. His entire plan depends on her picking one guy in particular who, it turns out, is actually him. If that first guy she had locked eyes with hadn't been with someone, the whole scheme would have come apart.}}
