I just wanted to add this trope, only to notice it seemingly doesn't exist yet on All The Tropes... or am I too stupid to search properly?
The discovered check windmill is definitely such a situation, as you can do nothing but move your king back and forth while more and more of your material disappears... very frustrating when you fall victim to that. And usually an easy win for your opponent.
