Topic on Talk:Donald Trump

Line 1: Line 1:
It's called [[w:Separation of powers|"Separation of powers"]] (and also "checks and balances") -- the government of the United States is divided into the Legislative, Judicial and Executive branches, each with its own responsibilities and powers, and each equal to the others; further, the power of each branch is held in check by the other two. Trump took office clearly thinking that the office of President had absolute power over the entire government and country (and that all previous presidents were obviously weak incompetents for not using it) -- that's the "Article II" subpoint under "Artistic License Law"; he was upset to find out that wasn't the case and tried his damnedest to upset the Separation and make the President an absolute ruler. It was also a violation of the Separation principle for him to use the Department of Justice as his personal law firm.
