Kirishima Kaito is an [[Ordinary High School Student]] who likes to film things. In a night when he was trying out his new high speed camera, something happens and he's severely injured... Only to wake up in his house, without a scratch. That same day, a new student transfers to his school, and he can't help but feel that she's familiar somehow.

** The region of Japan that AnoNatsu is set in is [[wikipedia:Kitakami, Iwate|Iwate Kitakami]], though shown from different angles the school that the cast goes to and some of the surrounding areas match the same locations used in [[Escaflowne]] (the scenes set on Earth anyway) almost exactly.

** Generally when ever aliens comes up, [[Lampshade Hanging|which is a lot]] [[Genre Savvy|for some reason]], visual and audio allusions to [[Men in Black]] will happen as well.
