During an attempt to recover an object of appalling power the lives of two (very different) strangers cross those of the Morisato household amid growing and sinister plans of the demon realm; plans which may cost Belldandy her life. As both the demons and Valkyries hunt for what is lost Urd begins her unlikely friendship with a creature that may or may not be linked to the growing chaos. And so Urd’s begins her poignant, bittersweet relationship with what Belldandy describes as “evil” (but is he?) Beneath this the novel is really about love, trust, sacrifice and forgiveness. Faithfully to the feel of the original, the story adds new depth and background about the lives of the “Goddess” characters (Lind in particular). Though a bit more serious than the anime in parts, the story is ultimately the strength in all of us. A good book to curl up with on a cold winter night.
