Antarctic Adventure is a game developed by Konami in which the player controls a penguin racing over the ice, jumping over ponds and crevices and collecting flags. It was first released for the MSX in 1983, and subsequently ported to other systems. The Famicom/NES version was one of the first third-party releases for the platform (along with Yie Ar Kung-Fu, also from Konami).
The game got an MSX-only sequel called Penguin Adventure (1986), which is also known for being supposedly the first game Hideo Kojima worked on Konami.
This game contains examples of the following tropes:
- Endless Game
- Everything's Better With Penguins
- Public Domain Soundtrack: "The Skaters' Waltz."
- Slippy-Slidey Ice World
- Timed Mission
