  • Creator's Pet: Morgan.
  • Strangled by the Red String: Several secondary characters comment that Morgan and Alex "really do make a cute couple," but if it had been a well-written romance the reader wouldn't need to be told this. The first half of the series is actually spent building up Elle and Alex's tension, before suddenly jettisoning it out of nowhere to Morgan simply because she was a popular character.
  • Unfortunate Implications: Everything to do with Carlos - mostly, people's reactions towards her. Being branded in the books as the "Freaky Transvestite Character" says it all, really.
