When someone mentions his or her “little brother”, you usually expect a smaller, weaker individual, most likely a child or teenager. The big little brother is the polar opposite of this. It’s someone who may be the youngest member of his family, but just so happens to be stronger, taller and overall more physically impressive than his older siblings. The revelation of this usually comes as a surprise to both the audience and the characters in a story. This trope is usually used for comical effect.

'''Tom:''' I... I didn't say he was older.
'''Zack:''' Tom's a loser! }}
* In ''[[Vigor Mortis]]'', after Vita got home after the time skip, she finds that her at least some of her siblings are taller than her. They are presumably less capable of physical feats though (except reaching things in high places without having to jump or something), although Vita would be cheating in accomplishing her feats by augmenting her strength with her soul. At the time Vita got home the average person in her city would find her more intimidating, but that is from a variety of factors the most important of which is she is a notorious criminal.
