Chaos Wars/Characters

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

List of all playable Knights. As such, there will be spoilers. Work in progress.

Original Characters

Hyoma

The lead character and player avatar of the game. A sourpuss, he only saw falling into the world of Endia as a neat way to ditch school. His two friends, Shizuku and Hayatemaru, also end up crossing dimensions with him. Hyoma often argues with Rin over, well, everything. While he does want to eventually return home, he is in no rush to do so.

Shizuku

A hyperactive friend of Hyoma, Shizuku loves fighting games and hitting people with paper fans. She also has a tendency to give everyone she meets "cute" nicknames—much to chagrin of all parties involved. Claims to love mahjong but barely knows the rules to the game.

Hayatemaru

Goofball friend of Hyoma and Shizuku, Hayate is cowardly and wears a scarf simply because "it's stylish". Often makes really bad puns and quotes cult classic films because he thoroughly believes he's the comic relief of the group.

Rin

Rin is a "Gate Master", a kind of conductor capable manipulating and tinkering with Endia's teleportation gates. She also acts as an exposition guide to those who fall into the world (namely the Knights). Clumsy but has a strong sense of duty towards her job, although she doesn't know the true inner workings of the world.

Wruzel

A native girl to Pagoras Island, she is a warrior woman who adheres to the law of proving worth and working through hunting. She attempts to make Hyoma her "groom" but Hyoma bests her in a one-on-one fight. Going by the laws of her tribe, she offers herself (her hand in marriage) to Hyoma as a prize, which irritates Hyoma to no end.

Lubul

A monkey with low intelligence and seems to know all the ways to push someone's buttons. He finds fun in annoying others. Falls in love with Shizuku at...by getting beaten with her paper swords?

Zard

An amnesiac, old-fashioned but eccentric detective seeking to regain his missing memories. Notable for fighting with a gigantic key when in Realize Mode. His "master key" can sense the presence of other keys, and is trying to use it to locate the memory key, which will supposedly give him his memory back.

Sluc

A close friend of Rin's, she has a very deadpan personality (which naturally clashes with Hyoma's), and often teases Rin to the point of tears. Her crossbow is possessed by a god, which has a tendency to break whenever she taps into the sealed god's power.

M.A.K.O. (Multi Attack Kill Object)

A combat android of unknown creation and origins. She attacks anything that she isn't programmed to see as an ally, but with the help of Beyond the Grave, she can be "fixed" to fight on Hyoma's side.

Laru

The strict, rule-abiding Captain of the Kishidan Group. Since he is descended from a Knight, he is able to draw on the power of Realize. He believes that peace and order are to be upheld at all costs.

Emily

Gaizan's bumbling second-in-command, Emily is obsessed with the navy and battle cannons. Her Realize takes the form of a well-known battle cannon that was so badly designed, it couldn't hit anything.

Ovia

A seductive witch that lives in the Library. Having studied the world's records and capable of strong magic, she is a good person for Hyoma and company to know. Knowing full well of her clothing and personality, she thinks of seducing men as a hobby.

Nagare

A ronin who likes fighting and training above everything else. Hard-headed, he gleefully fights on the villains' side just so he can beat people up. However, once Hyoma's party saves his life later on, he sees that Hyoma's group is stronger (and means that they fight more enemies some of which he'll get the chance to fight), and joins the party to make amends.

Shelly

Lygen's darling adoptive daughter, Shelly is spoiled to heck and back. She possesses the same gate powers as Rin, although they were artificially forced into her by the Will of the Egg. The side effect is that it causes her great pain, and she has a very limited lifespan. She either chooses to stay by her dying "father"'s side, or if specific requirements are met, Lygen convinces her to stay with Hyoma, in the hope of a better future.

Endia

A construct made by the Will of the Egg, but has the body and mind of a young child. Created to absorb other worlds and he himself "created" the Sunroad bloodline (i.e. Rin), Endia over time developed a will of his own, but was still heavily chained to the Will of the Egg. He summoned Knights to the world as a means of seeking a way to break free, if the sun is at the lowest radiance when he is defeated, Endia will lend his enormous world-warping powers to the party.

Gungrave O.D.

Beyond the Grave

This silent marksman is often called "Death" or "the Destroyer". He was once a prominent member of the Millenion Syndicate, and his "true" name was Brandon Heat. For doing what he thought was right for the syndicate, he was betrayed and gruesomely murdered. He was raised from the dead as an unfortunate victim/guinea pig of Necrolization—he now exists as a Third-Generation Model Deadman (undead soldier). His incredible combat prowess and "immortality" came with a price—his memories of his mortal life and his emotions are almost all but gone. With what little "heart" he has left, he serves as guardian for a young girl named Mika.

Mika Asagi

A decidedly cute and kind girl unfortunately thrown into a world of violence, death, and checkered pasts that should have been forgotten. She was forced to leave her home and her beloved mother Maria because of the Syndicate hunting her down with the order to kill Mika and her mother. She comes to Grave, returning his Cerberus handguns and with that, he gives her his protection. She assists Grave by preparing his weaponry and infusing him with blood so he is able to fight.

Juji Kabane

Loud, blind, rude, and arrogant, Juji is another victim of the Necrolization Project. Killed and forced through nightmarish experiments, he is 1/2 Deadman and 1/2 Seed/Orgman. Surviving only because of a breathing technique, he vows to find Garino, the man who used him as a guinea pig, and kill him. Billy is one of his only companions. He is Bunji's little brother.

Rocketbilly Redcadillac

Billy loves the ladies. He also happens to be the ghost of a rockabilly possessing his own guitar. Slightly naive but sweet-tempered, Billy often fights with Juji over women, but Billy takes the idea of chivalry and runs with it full tilt. However, being a ghost, he cannot physically interact with anything except his guitar—and not even Billy knows how he is even able to do that.

Bunnji Kugashira (Bunji)

Before Brandon Heat's death and transformation into Grave, Bunji was his apprentice. However, despite Bunji's efforts, he could never surpass Brandon. Once Brandon was reanimated as Grave and started his quest for revenge against the syndicate, Bunji had himself subjected to the Seed drug to try to finally overcome Grave. He was defeated by Grave, but he was given a second chance to fight again when the Corsiones revived him. Depending on which path you fight him in, Bunji will either allow himself to dissolve, or Grave "forgives" him to the surprise of Bunji, and joy that the two "brothers" can fight alongside each other once again.

Steady X Study

Koyuki and Little Snow

A freshman student who is in love with a boy named Makoto. Little Snow is a being sealed in a mystical cane, who is Koyuki's alternate/true self, when she is summoned to Neverland.

Shadow Hearts

Uru (Yuri Volte Hyuga)

The hero of the first two Shadow Hearts games, Yuri is a Harmonixer: a person with the power of Fusion, which allows him/her to transform into powerful demon spirits and beasts. In his journey to protect his sweetheart (Alice), Alice gives up her soul to Atman in order to spare Yuri's life. Trying to find a purpose after her death, Yuri is cursed by the Holy Mistletoe, a holy artifact designed to erode and steal his soul. Brutally honest but deep down a kind and caring young man, Yuri tends to not just flip off eldritch abominations, but tends to beat the everloving hell out of them as well.

Alice Elliot

Geppetto's niece and the daughter of a priest, Alice worked with her father as an exorcist. Alice also possessed empathic powers, which made her desirable by the bad guys. Yuri's one true love, she readily allowed herself to die in place of Yuri, and made a place for herself inside Yuri's soul in order to watch over and protect him. Her deep love for Yuri is unwavering.

Geppetto

Alice's elderly uncle, Geppetto is a famous but retired puppeteer who is never without his beloved puppet, the cute replica of his deceased daughter, Cornelia. The puppet itself is somewhat possessed by the spirit of his daughter, but isn't malevolent at all, because she was a sweet and gentle girl in life. They work together to cast powerful magicks.

Karen (Karin Koenig)

A military officer who, along with Nicholai Conrad, was sent to the sleepy village of Domremy to defeat a "demon" who's been guarding the village. The demon in question was Yuri, and after being double-crossed by Nicholai, she was saved by Yuri and decided to journey with him. Despite being deeply in love with Yuri, he doesn't truly return the same feelings, as he chooses to stay loyal to Alice.

Kurando

A young samurai and Yuri's cousin, Kurando Inugami is also a Harmonixer, although he can only manifest two Fusion forms. He worked as a bodyguard until he is saved by Yuri and company, and the people he was guarding request that he follow Yuri and his party. He is quiet and is the object of love by Anastasia, though this love is mostly one-sided on Anastasia's part.

Anastasia

Princess Anastasia of Russia, she's a small but mischievous girl who readily knows that her cuteness can be a "deadly" weapon. She wants to protect her family, and learns the skills of monsters by photographing them. Falls in love with Kurando at first sight.

Joachim Valentine

One of the members of the vampire family Valentine, Joachim is a very flamboyant wrestler who believes in protecting the weak. As a result he's kinda ditzy but a good guy all around. He has the ability to transform into a shiny golden bat and tends to use anything he gets his mitts on as a weapon. This includes mailboxes and old pipes...and a handy frozen tuna.
