- Fan Preferred Couple: There's some indications fans prefer Wendy over Aphrodite.
- Iron Woobie: Mechni-Cal.
- Relationship Writing Fumble: Cal and Wendy are, per Word of God, supposed to drive each other nuts with their bickering. At least some readers took them to have Belligerent Sexual Tension.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: While perfectly enjoyable on its own, Confessions doesn't actually include much villainy from Cal.
- Unfortunate Implications: Athena raises them with Cal and Aphrodite falling in love while she was recovering from mind-control.
- A case of Straw Man Has a Point, despite Cal not doing anything troubling.
