DTMFA was a phrase coined by advice columnist Dan Savage, and stands for "dump the motherfucker already."
This phrase has become astoundingly popular on every website where someone posts a question about relationship advice, especially ask.metafilter.com.
Known as "sever" on Something Awful.
Not to be confused with DMFA.
