Debt of Honor/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

These things about Debt of Honor are subjective - not everyone will agree with all of them.

  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • A character carries out a kamikaze attack with an airliner, seven years before 9/11.
    • Reading about the Americans and Russians celebrating denuclearisation can be painful after President Donald Trump withdrew the US from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty in response to alleged Russian violations.
    • Japanese remilitarisation and military misadventures can be uncomfortable reading for 2010s readers due to then-Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's vocal interest in revising Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution that prohibits just that.
  • Narm: Some characters' joy at being "noticed" by Yamata can come across as awkward to people familiar with the "notice me senpai" meme.
