Den-en ni shisu (田園に死す) AKA Pastoral: To Die in the Country AKA Pastoral Hide and Seek, is a Japanese film released in 1974.
The storyline is...strange, to say the least. First it starts off as a teenage boy tries to escape his overprotective mother. Then it turns into a filmmaker's desire to confront his own elaborate creation. It goes without saying that there is a load of Mind Screw here!
This film contains examples of:
- Mind Screw: The storyline is full of it!
- My Beloved Smother: The film starts with a teenage boy trying to escape this situation.
- Offing the Offspring: An outcast simple-minded woman drowns her own baby.
