"E3" is an abbreviation for the Electronic Entertainment Expo, a defunct gaming event held in California (Georgia for 97 and 98) every year from 1995 to 2019. Most of the major gaming companies held press conferences at the Expo; fanboys and fangirls watched live feeds of the events in an attempt to keep up with the latest news and catch early glimpses of footage from upcoming games. E3 tended to be the preferred venue for unveiling new console and handheld designs. Companies also liked to talk up their sales statistics here.
