Article description: (description ) This attribute controls the content of the description and og:description elements. | Encyclopedia Dramatica (NSFW) is a wiki-based site that you either love or hate - it's pretty much impossible not to be on one side of the fence. ED claims that its purpose is to parody and satirize the internet in a format similar to The Devil's Dictionary, by way of antithesis to The Other Wiki. Created in 2004 to chronicle LiveJournal drama, ED soon developed into a site whose second purpose was also to document "lulz" - pretty much memes and laughing at stupid things people do on the Internet. The site's third purpose - and much of its impact on the culture of the Internet, fandom, and even some parts of Real Life - can be summarized as "trying to offend anybody and everybody" (and we do mean everybody). According to ED themselves, almost nothing on the site should be taken seriously. |
