Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Designated Hero: This is likely to come into play in the sagas of the missionary kings, Olaf Tryggvason and Saint Olaf. While they may not be worse than many of the other kings, they are hardly better and just as ruthless, egoistic and violent as you would expect from Viking Age warlords. But because they are the champions of the Conversion and the architects of the Christian kingdom of Norway, the narrative treats them like they are saints, even though you wouldn't know from their behavior.
