- Ensemble Darkhorse: The grandmother for sure, and arguably, Hesher himself.
- Nightmare Fuel: TJ was in the car during the accident where his mother died.
- Early in the film, Hesher threatens to TJ that he would kill the entire family if TJ didn't play along with him staying at the house. In a later scene, TJ comes home to find Hesher talking and laughing with TJ's grandmother.
