Johannes Cabal the Detective/Tear Jerker

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Leonie and Cabal's exchange right before she leaves him to go back to the Princess Hortense where they both know she will almost certainly be murdered and he's trying to convince her not to leave.
She was scared, just as she was brave, just as she was doomed.
    • Made all the more poignant when one considers how often Cabal straddles the line between Heroic Sociopath and Complete Monster, yet he still manages to show concern for a woman whom he has considered a threat nearly the entire journey but whom he respects enough to consider a Worthy Opponent.
  • But God looks after fools and little children, doesn't he? Auf, Weidersehen, Herr Cabal. Oh, Leonie.
