Sure, it's the absolute darkest ending to any of the paths, but it's also where Damien proves that he hasn't just been trying to fool you into forgiving him for what he did: he really means it. And when you decide you love him too much to keep the promise you made to Ellen, he sweeps you off your feet...and carries you off to a place of safety before the authorities can find you and erase your memories of magic as would happen to anyone else who had just lost their magic if they didn't die in the process of losing it. Not only do the authorities never find you, he even promises to help you regain your magic if you want to.
