These things about NBA 2K are subjective - not everyone will agree with all of them.

Critical Dissonance: Made even more egregious with the recent entries in the franchise, which were reviewed favourably by gaming journalists but was savaged by irate gamers who are fed up with pervasive monetization and gambling minigames in a video game supposedly rated as suitable for children. One such independent reviewer went on to accuse 2K Games of bribing said journalists to favour their game despite its controversial gameplay mechanics.
Values Dissonance/What Do You Mean It's for Kids?: Specifically the above-mentioned casino minigames which angered fans and led authorities to further question corporate-run game studios for their avarice. While the minigames in question may not involve any real-world funds, it was nevertheless seen as a gateway towards desensitising children into gambling addiction. This may have also led Rockstar Games to geo-block the casino minigames in the The Diamond Casino & Resort update for Grand Theft Auto Online due to differing gambling regulations (as the game allows players to exchange real-world funds with gambling chips).
