Nighthawks (film)/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Complete Monster: Wulfgar. He manipulates everyone around him, and he cares nothing for those who help him as evidenced by his offscreen murder of Pam. He even kills children and thinks nothing of it. This is how terrorists usually are in real life.
  • Crowning Moment of Funny: Seeing Stallone cross-dressing while beating up criminals is pretty damn funny. It's also one of the few lighthearted moments that this film has, and it provides a stark contrast to the seriousness that is yet to come.
  • Crowning Music of Awesome: While Keith Emerson's style may seem out of place anywhere else, in this movie it works rather well.
  • What an Idiot!: After finally escaping from the hostage situation, albeit at the cost of Shakka, Wulfgar has a chance to hide. Instead, he decides to find Da Silva's ex-wife and kill her. This bites him in the ass hard when it turns out that Da Silva had caught on after seeing her house listed on a piece of paper at his [Wulfgar] hide out, and decided to wait for him in her home, which leads to the "oh crap" moment above.
  • The Music. Keith Emerson's score is rather good on the whole, but some parts, such as "I'm a Man," which plays during the nightclub scene, is good at the start with instruments, but once you hear Keith Emerson try to sing, you know that he should stick to instruments. Tragically, this music was replaced with another more generic disco piece in the Universal DVD of the film, although it was in the Goodtimes DVD. Oddly enough, the piece can be heard in the theatrical trailer on the Universal DVD. Really weird.
  • In this Troper's opinion, Sly looks rather good with a beard. Just sayin'.
  • A friend of mine explicitly said Stallone's performance in this was proof that He Really Can Act.
