A digital edition of the PS5

The PlayStation 5 (PS5) is a home video game console developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Released on November 12, 2020, the PlayStation 5 is part of the ninth generation of video game consoles. It is backwards compatible with the PlayStation 4, which it succeeded.

The system was sold either with an optical drive, or without one as a digital edition. A PS5 Slim was released in 2023, featuring a optical drive expansion system allowing for upgrades to digital only consoles.
