- Complete Monster: Brandon is probably one of the worst Hitchcock villains in terms of sheer nastiness. Anyone who kills a classmate, belittles and demeans his Guilt Ridden Accomplice, and holds a dinner party for David's family, lover and Rupert using the trunk containing his corpse as a table just because they can is complete scum.
- Dancing Bear: Alfred Hitchcock regarded Rope as a failed experiment in stretching the limits of making a film as few cuts as possible. Film critics and historians would agree that the technical execution left much to be desired, but the writing and performances are still well regarded.
- For the Evulz: Brandon's motivation.
- Ho Yay: Plenty between Brandon and Philip, especially at the start.
- Smug Snake: BRANDON.
