Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Uncanny Valley: The character of Simone was played by a real actress to appease the Screen Actors Guild and lower costs, resulting in a CGI character that was not CGI at all, but there were digital adjustments made in editing in order to make her look slightly less realistic for the final film.
    • Steve Heisler drew attention to the irksome nature of the premise in an I Watched This on Purpose column, stating "The more realistic CGI tries to make its characters, the more creepy and unreal they look. The human eye is nature’s finest bullshit detector" and criticising the film for showing people being easily convinced by Simone instead of immediately picking up the creepy Uncanny Valley-ness, mockingly asking the readers if they can tell the difference between the movie-within-a-movie and Dramatic Movie: The Videogame.
