*Episode 52 reveals that Takeru's parents died in a accident trying to find him after he was kidnapped for the Hanoi Project. Imagine the emotional punch the poor guy for not only having to deal with the emotional and mental trauma because the of the project the fact that both of his parents are dead because they were trying to find him is going to make it worse.
*Episode 54 reveals why Blood Shepherd is so edgy and doesn't trust AI. After taking his mother to dinner on her birthday, they rode an AI-driven Taxi that he assured her was safe. It glitches when it notices an accident, and crashes right into an overturned truck. The result is that his mother suffers a critical spinal injury and his arm is left beyond repair, forcing him to use a prosthetic. Since then he hasn't trusted any AI that wasn't under human control.
*Episode 58 shows us how Yusaku was before the incident. He was a cheerful boy who loves to play Duel Monsters a big contrast with the person he is today. He was so cheerful and innocent that he immediately accepted Ryoken's invitation to play Duel Monsters at his house. Too bad this resulted in him getting kidnapped, being tortured, and losing the joy and love he has for the game.
**Ryoken, being eight at that time, most likely did not intentionally lead Yusaku to being kidnapped hence him becoming Yusaku's voice of hope; he probably felt guilty for unknowingly dooming Yusaku to such a horrible fate. Ryoken was most likely just an innocent kid who loved playing Duel Monsters and was happy to make a friend in Yusaku. Ryoken most likely actually just wanted to show Yusaku his deck at his house, become friends with Yusaku, and did not intend anything bad. The fact that something bad did happen must have made Ryoken feel horrible.
