The Sky Crawlers: Difference between revisions

Line 15:
* Ace Pilot: Five of them are noted, though two are the same person.
* AKA-47: Most, if not all of the aircraft that appeared in the movie are fusions of various WWII aircraft designs.
** Rostock's primary fighter plane, the Sanka Mark B, is heavily based on the Kyushu J7W1 Shinden, albeit with a pari of triple-bladed contra-rotating propellers seen on the XP-56 Black Bullet instead of a single six-bladed one.
** Teacher's aircraft, the Skyly J-2 (or J-Zwei as the Rostock pilots call it) is a fusion of multiple aircraft of both Allied and Axis origins. The nose of the aircraft and its propeller-hub mounted cannon are based on the Focke-Wulf Ta 152. The fuselage and contra-rotating resembles that of a Supermarine Seafire FR.47 or a Martin-Baker MB5. And finally its wings and overall sliver color scheme are taken from the Fisher P-75 Eagle.
** Lautern's more common fighter plane, the Rainbow, is a blend of various British aircraft designs, most notably the De Havilland Mosquito, the Gloster Meteor and the Supermarine Spitfire.
** Lautern's Fortune heavy bombers appear to be a fusion of a Avro Lancaster with the unbuiltB-36 Victory Bomber conceptPeacemaker.
** Rostock's Someka heavy fighter doesn't seem to resemble any WWII design, instead it bears more resemblance to the Piaggio P.180 Avanti executive transport. The closest WWII design it resembles is the Miles M.39B Libellula.
** Rostock's heavy bombers are heavily based on the Northrop YB-35, except with six engines, a pair of tall rudders and a sizeable keel which folds up when landing. Their medium bomber seem to be a combination of various German bombers, such as the Dornier Do 17 and the Heinkel He 177 Greif, its push-pull configuration engines are not seen on any contemporary bombers.
