Sunil Dutt was a prolific leading man in Bollywood from the fifties to the mid-seventies, who later became involved in various social and political causes. He was equally at home playing noble but angsty heroes, of the type that Bollywood favored when he first came to public attention, and playing Darker and Edgier characters. He is probably best remembered for the fifties Bollywood classic Mother India where he plays the adult son of the actress Nargis, who became his wife in real life, and for unleashing his notorious son, Sanjay Dutt, on the film industry. He and Sanjay appeared together in the Munna Bhai movies.
