  • Even when it seems that the world is giving up on old-style Truth, Justice, and the American Way, Superman never gives up on humanity. When he heads out to face the Elite, who have shown that they may have enough power to defeat him, he leaves a note for Lois:

  • Lois doesn't give up on him, either. Even though she teases him about keeping his scoops to himself (as Clark Kent), and getting kissed (unwillingly) by Menagerie, their relationship has never been stronger.
  • Ma and Pa Kent believe in Superman as well, of course, and in Smallville (and probably the rest of humanity) -- Pa declares that, while the Elite may be popular at the moment, people will recognize that Superman is more dependable.
