Tales from the Middle Kingdom is a Web Comic based on the historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms (三國演義), which describes the military and political turmoil in China at the end of the Han Dynasty (A.D. 169-290), when the country was divided into three states.

The comic is drawn in traditional Chinese brush painting style. It updates once a week, and can be read here.

Tropes:

Blade on a Stick: Guan Yu's legendary weapon guandao, is probably anachronistic – the earliest record of this type of weapon did not appear until more than 700 years later in the Song Dynasty.
Blood Brothers: Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei swore alliance to each other in the peach garden.
