I was thinking about this over the weekend. I'm going to delete the examples with context tags on them, clean up the article, and launch it, probably tomorrow. We have enough examples for launching even without them. If the deleted examples are actually appropriate, someone who wants to put the full explanations in can add them back to the article.

No objections? Cool. Doing this now.

Jade Shauni (talkcontribs)

No objections from me and don't worry about deleting the weird examples that I unintentionally place there, Looney.

Some help? I don't know if I place this trope in the correct part of the article, I'm talking about Neon Genesis Evangelion.

First off: One More Day was a deliberate Take That at the fans; Joe Quesada has admitted it. As such, it's a Gainax Ending, not a Gank.

Every last entry in the Western Animation section was a single episode of a larger series that had a confusing ending. And that's it. A Fandom Gank requires the Fandom to be up in arms about it. If any of those endings upset their respective fans, there's no indication here. I also have some reservations about the ending of a random episode really providing a Gank; it seems to me only that the Grand Finale of a show could really qualify, because it would permanently and finally alter the nature of the show, with no chance to change it back; a random episode is basically subject to the Reset Button.

Anything else left in place with a Context tag needs some kind of explanation justifying classification as a Gank. It must have had a negative fan reaction. If it didn't have one, it needs to be deleted. Remember -- this is an Audience Reaction trope, and as such the examples all need the reaction of the audience.

There's this vid, would there be some Fandom Gank examples. I'm just posting this, 'cause I'm not part of those fandoms and/or avoiding spoilers, since I'm planning to watch 'em.

Looney Toons (talkcontribs)

Not that one, no. But another from the same group, Top 10 WTF Endings in Anime, would be more likely to yield potential Ganks. I haven't watched it yet, though, so I don't know what it has to offer. Remember, the trope is about unexpected and story-wrecking swerves at the very end. A series that's weird all the way through can't inflict a Fandom Gank.

I didn't know I posted the wrong vid, thanks and nice save. I was talking about the Top 10 WTF Endings in Anime.
