:This template is similar to the {{tl|trope}} template, but is used to flag those pages which fall in the grey area where {{tl|trope}} and {{tl|Useful Notes}} overlap, describing more how we work with tropes within the wiki than describing a particular trope. 
;Syntax
:Place {{tl|meta-trope}} at the top of the article. This makes a bar that looks like this:

;Options
:{{tl|meta-trope}} is functionally identical to {{tl|trope}} and has all the same options:<br/>
 
:With a page parameter, specify a particular parent page to display the template for.  Potentially useful for subpages of subtropes, but mainly done for parallelism with {{tl|work}}.  This is what <code><nowiki>{{meta-trope|page=Tropes Are Flexible}}</nowiki></code> produces:

:With a wppage parameter, specify a particular Wikipedia article to link to. This is useful for when Wikipedia has an article on the subject in question, but its title doesn't match up. This is what <code><nowiki>{{meta-trope|wppage=Chintzware}}</nowiki></code> produces:
