Husk and Aspen team up to kill the wife and child of the king and drive him insane. in the first book, Silverbirch thinks of his islanders as nothing but items, routinely killing them for his Voodoo priet Smokewreath, and in the Raven War The Silver Prince kills his aunt because he doesn't like taking her advice.
