The Outlaw Josey Wales/Heartwarming

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • At the end, when Fletcher knows full well that Josey Wales is still alive (and standing right in front of him):

Fletcher: I think I'll go down to Mexico to try to find him.
Josey Wales: And then?
Fletcher: He's got the first move. I owe him that. I think I'll try to tell him the war is over. What do you say, "Mr. Wilson"?
Josey (realizing Fletcher is letting him go): I reckon so. I guess we all died a little in that damn war.

  • Ten Bears: It's sad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues. There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life.
  • The simple fact that by movie's end Josey has built himself up a new circle of friends - basically a new family - who care for him.
