Tokimeki Memorial/Characters/1: Difference between revisions

A fun-loving girl who loves speaking with [[Gratuitous English|English sentences mixed in her speech]]. She has two main passions: art, and singing.

She loves to draw pictures, and is talented at it . She enjoys looking at paintings a lot, and is a big fan of Grotesque painter Gergi (a [[Shout-Out]] to H.R. Giger, who’s the designer of ''[[Alien]]''). {{spoiler|Also, she will go study art in an Arts school in France once she graduates}}.

And as far as singing goes, not only she’s so good at it, each karaoke session with her is a [[Crowning Moment of Awesome]], but she’s also the singer of the band club "Irodori", in the second ''Drama Series'' game ''Irodori no Love Song'', a game where she’s the heroine, thanks to being [[Ensemble Darkhorse|the fourth most popular character among fans]] in ''Tokimeki Memorial 1''.

* [[Beautiful Dreamer]]: Her Event in Tokimeki Status at the Planetarium. You get to choose to let her sleep or wake up ; if you don't wake her up, she'll [[Talking in Your Sleep|tell in her sleep]] [[Squee|she loves you]].

* [[Gratuitous English]]/[[Surprisingly Good English]]: Ayako's seiyuu, Masayo Kawaguchi, lives for years with her family in USA, so she knows English fairly well. There are a few instances where Ayako’s English sentences sound strange, but overall she speaks a pretty good English.

* [[Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?]]: Her fear of water is ''extremely'' famous. She skips swimming lessons at school whenever possible, will panic if you force her to go swimming at the beach, and she has [[Crowning Moment of Funny|an hilarious]] [[Boke and Tsukkomi Routine]] with resident swimming lover, Nozomi. However, unlike her [[Expy]] Lesley of '' [[Mitsumete Knight|Mitsumete]] '' ''[[Spiritual Successor|Knight]]'', the reasons behind this fear were never explored.

[[Shrinking Violet|An extremely shy girl]] [[Love At First Sight|who fell in love at first sight]] for the main protagonist on School Entrance Day, [[Cannot Spit It Out|but can’t muster the courage to tell her feelings to him]]. Instead, she tries to make him notice of her by doing such things [[Crash Into Hello|as crashing "accidentally" onto him]], appearing in date spot and claiming she mistook him for someone else, or calling him at his home and telling she made a wrong number.

She’s fond of koalas; [[Anime Hair|she even puts her hair in koala ear-shape]], and goes as far as wearing a koala costume to sometimes be able to follow the main protagonist when he has dates at the [[Amusement Park]].

Miharu is, in the original game, a secret character the player couldn’t date, and was made by the creators as a consolation character for the players who haven’t managed to get the confession of any other character (even though there’s a chance you can miss her as well). Despite all this, she became ''very'' [[Ensemble Darkhorse|popular among fans of the series]], to the point she was made the co-heroine with Shiori in the third ''Drama Series'' game ''Tabidachi no Uta'', {{spoiler|and even has [[The Cameo|a special guest ending]] in ''Tokimeki Memorial 2 Substories: Memories Ringing On''}}.

* [[Graceful Loser]]: {{spoiler|[[The Anime of the Game|Near the end of the OVA]], she concedes defeat to Shiori all while crying in the last of their phones’ sessions}}.

A classmate of the main protagonist. He accosts him on the first day of school, and they become instant friends. Just like the main protagonist, he’s on a quest for love, and has the tools to reach this end, as he’s the "info man" of the school: he can get the data from all the girls: phone number, blood type, size, hobbies, and even 3-sizes, as well as giving good date spots hints. He thus will help his friend by giving him this data and moral support.

Yoshio is deep down a good guy who cares for his friend (and this is especially shown in the ''Drama Series''), but he’s very noisy, [[Large Ham|over-the-top]], and prone to jump to conclusions, [[Only Sane Man|leading to give some headaches to the protagonist]]. However, being well-meaning and enthusiast, [[Bunny Ears Lawyer|he often gets away with this among the girls, who thinks he’s funny]], and is [[Easily Forgiven]] by the protagonist.

* [[Brainwashed]]: {{spoiler|In the original game, Yoshio actually discovers Rei's secret and is about to tell you it when Rei promptly appears and carts him off. The player later meets him and asks him about it but he has been [[Brainwashed]] via drugs to [[Laser-Guided Amnesia|forget all about it]]}}.

Yoshio’s little sister. She’s one year younger than the rest of the cast, and thus makes her entrance in the original game at the start of the main protagonist’s second year of High School.

In early promotional arts and merchandise, she was planned as one of the poster characters, along with Shiori, Yoshio and Rei; her character didn’t caught on to fans compared to [[Ensemble Darkhorse|Saki, Ayako or Miharu]], however.

* [[Berserk Button]]: If you don’t wanna eat a painful Yumi Bomber, do not say she’s "cute".

* [[Clingy Jealous Girl]]: In the original game, not only she has one of the highest love progression and the highest Bombing rate among the girls, she also have a Event which only activates if a certain Saki Event occured, see [[Lethal Chef]] below!

* [[Gamer Chick]]: She’s the embodiment of this trope. For the note, her favourite type of video games are shooters.

A classmate of the main protagonist. Just like Yoshio, appears on the first day of school. Grand-son of Kirameki High’s school headmaster, and heir of the ultra-rich Ijuin Family, which runs lots of wealthy local and international businesses. Flamboyant, arrogant and caustic, Rei never misses an opportunity to mock the protagonist and Yoshio. In contrast, he’s ''extremely'' popular with the girls and [[Attention Whore|he’s fully aware of it]].

* {{spoiler|[[Easier Than Easy]]: Rei is actually the easiest character to get the ending of in the original game. Just spam her with phone calls each week-end, and you’re good to go; you don’t even have to work on your stats}}.

* [[Evil Laugh]]: {{spoiler|Is also a sort of [[Noblewoman's Laugh]], since she’s a girl, and the heiress of a financial empire to boot}}.

* [[Late Arrival Spoiler]]: {{spoiler|She’s actually a girl}}, and late merchandise in the franchise don't make it much of a secret.

* [[Screw the Rules, I Have Money]]: Subversion in that Rei likes to show off the Ijuin Family’s wealthiness and how the others are cockroaches compared to them, but never uses it for evil ends. In fact, he's the one who hosts the New Years Party.

* {{spoiler|[[Tomato Surprise]]: Although a special event during the game lets you guess it, it’s during her ending that you discover Rei’s true gender}}.

[[Shrinking Violet|A shy]] and gentle [[Meganekko]] bookworm girl [[Ill Girl|with a weak body]], suffering from anemia, and thus often passing out. Because of this, she also can’t do sports (not like she likes sports to start with), or have violent emotions (and thus prefer going out to calm and peaceful places on dates).

She loves reading books so much, she’s able to read ''four of them per day'', her favourite author being Goethe. Like Shiori, she also loves classical music and love romance movies. Her ideal type of boy would be kind, intelligent and studious ones.

In ''Drama Series'' games and radio drama canon, she’s portrayed as Saki’s best friend, and in radio drama canon {{spoiler|becomes Yoshio’s girlfriend}}.

Shiori’s best friend. [[Shrinking Violet|A very shy girl]] who has a [[Friend to All Living Things|deep love for animals]]. She eventually falls in love with the protagonist during the course of the game if he has good grades, but she’s so timid she asks Shiori to introduce her to him. She has a pet Yorkshire named Muku, who’s rather aggressive towards strangers ([[Crowning Moment of Funny|this includes the protagonist, of course]]).

* [[Friend to All Living Things]]: Goes from dogs and cats to monkeys and koalas, and even ''crows''. She’s such an animal nut, she mentions in her ending in ''Tokimeki Memorial Taisen Puzzle Dama'' that [[What Do You Mean It's Not Awesome?|she goes on a trip to Australia just to be surrounded with the animals she loves]].

* [[Informed Ability]]: Her friendship with Shiori is well-established by canon, but it’s rare to see it in action. Especially true in the original game.

A fun-loving girl from a rich family who’s on the lookout for the latest trend, and hates studies with a passion. She’s not above cheating at exams, is regularly [[Late for School]], and shrugs off any reprimands made by school principles. Likes games and lively places a lot, is a fan of karaoke, and a champ at dancing.

* [[Gamer Chick]]: Not as much as Yumi, but she’s a champion at ''[[Dance Dance Revolution]]'', {{spoiler|and Maho’s greatest rival in the National DDR Tournament of ''Tokimeki Memorial Substories: Dancing Summer Vacation''}}.

* [[In-Series Nickname]]: {{spoiler|Her friend Maho calls her “Hina” (ヒナ)}}.

* [[Parental Abandonment]]: Her family is rich, but her parents are always working and don’t pay lots of attention to her.

* [[Straight Man]]: She’s this in the aformented [[Boke and Tsukkomi Routine]] with Yukari.

Daughter of a rich businessman owner of the wealthy "Koshiki Real Estate" company. She was brought up as a lady, and thus speaks with very polite Japanese and has attitudes of such. She’s notable for having a veeeeeeery slow speech pattern, and for being a massive [[Cloudcuckoolander]]. Member of the Tennis Club, her ideal boy would be a sportsman. Her hobby is knitting, and she’s particulary good at it.

She’s best friends with [[Odd Friendship|her polar opposite]] Yuko; and since both of them are from filthy rich families, she’s also childhood friends with Rei. {{spoiler|Thanks to this, she’s the sole character (aside from, briefly, Yoshio) in Kirameki High School to know that Rei is actually a girl}}.

* [[Parental Abandonment]]: Utterly averted. She’s one of the rare characters in the Classic Kirameki saga to have both her parents well-established in canon, she has a close relationship with both of them (and [[Daddy's Girl|she’s her]] [[Overprotective Dad|father’s treasure]]), and she’s basically the fruit and living proof of the legend of the Legendary Tree (see [[Happily Married]] above).

* [[Pimped-Out Dress]]: She wears one on the Christmas Party, and wears a Pimped Out Kimono on New Year’s Day.
