Well, Pokemon is the obvious example, in this case. Starting with the Poké Balls in the main series of the game, then you have the stuff that enables Mega-Evolution and Z-Moves. And the ''Ranger'' games have the characters using a device called an Styler (it's more like an remote-controlled top) to temporarily befriend wild Pokémon to help you clear environmental obstacles. |

There's also that new Astral Chain video game, but that's less of an "friendship" thing and more of getting an extradimensional to fight it's own kind...by using a chain and collar. (Yes, I know it's weird.) |
