When the VAC system screwed up massively and unjustly banned about 12,000 Modern Warfare 2 players from Steam, Valve apologized thoroughly and swiftly unbanned them as any competent video game developer should. However, to make up for whatever inconvenience, they gave all of those who were banned unfairly a free copy of Left 4 Dead 2 for themselves and one of their Steam friends.
Valve's attitude towards Mac OS and Linux PC gaming community, who are in the minority of the PC Master Race. They made PC gaming possible for them. - When other video game companies dismisses or outright ignore the tiny group. - Valve even made tools for games to be playable on Mac and Linux (i.e. Proton) and for game companies to also make versions of their products to be compatible.
Their famous first party games are even adjusted to be compatible for Mac OS and Linux.
