For such a Love It or Hate It series, Guilty Crown seems, at times, hell-bent on challenging two certain other shows for the title of most Whams in a single series. Up until episode 12, it seemed like just another awesome action show, but after Shu kills Gai in the aforementioned episode, it becomes a whole lot Darker and Edgier. To the point that it's easier to count the episodes that don't qualify.

* Episode 3: Near the end, Shu and Yahiro seemed to have solved their issues and made up. Then, Yahiro betrays him by selling him to the GHQ. Damn...
* Episode 5: Inori reveals to Shu that , and the episode ends with Gai's
** Episode 5 leaves Gai's fate unknown as the viewers are treated to [K 13 m 5 h DoVpiK13m5hDo/Trys_sp9qzI/AAAAAAAAdRI/FT90UohjRq0/<!-- 25255BCommie25255D%25255BCommie%25255D%252520Guilty%252520Crown%252520-%25252005%252520%25255BCEDCE7F8%25255D.mkv_snapshot_21.13_%25255B2011.11.10_20.17.17%25255D%25255B2%25255D.jpg this] view of what Leukocyte can do. And it's not even fully charged at that point. -->
* Episode 8: Shu and Funeral Parlor manage to infiltrate a facility which contained the very source of the Apocalypse Virus,
** Episode 8 is where the endless chain of Guilty Crown Wham begins when And this was a Beach Episode!
Line 18:
* In Episode 16,
* And then there's the fact that, as of Episode 16,
* In Episode 17,
* Episode 18:
* Episode 19:
