Cindy is gay.

Unlike most procedurals, the show went into great detail on the personal life of its characters: Lindsay's dating, Claire's marriage, Jill's boyfriend. But Cindy was never shown with any romantic attachments at all. Even when she was shot in the chest, only the regular characters showed up to support her. This might indicate that the writers were planning to reveal Cindy as gay, or at least were keeping their options open.

• Rumor is that since Jill was kinda-sorta canonically bisexual, she and Cindy were going to hook-up in a later season.
