  • Exaggerated: Bob must eat almost constantly during his quest.
  • Downplayed: Bob only needs to eat after a huge battle.
  • Justified: Bob is only human and still needs to take care of his basic needs.
  • Inverted: Bob needs to make sure he does not eat during his quest.
  • Subverted: Bob manages to go a long time throughout the game without eating, but then he gets hungry right before the final boss.
  • Double Subverted: He was not actually hungry.
  • Parodied: An entire quest is dedicated to getting food.
  • Zig Zagged: Bob needs to eat only at certain parts of the game.
  • Averted: Bob does not need to eat at all during his quest.
  • Enforced: "We need to make our game more challenging. I know, let's make it so Bob has to eat!"
  • Lampshaded: "I have been traveling very far, but I need some food now."
  • Invoked: Bob performs a strenuous task that results in him using up a lot of energy.
  • Exploited: Any characters who own taverns, restaurants, or other such venues are exploiting this trope.
  • Defied: Bob uses magic to make himself never need food.
  • Discussed: "We are able to use magic, but we also need food on this adventure."
