Since then, it has come to dominate the world economically and socially as well as militarily. Thus, a common conceit of scifi and some Satire is to have the world also fall under the political control of Washington. Jokes about entire countries becoming the n+50th state are common. The recent economic shift in the new millenium will put this theory to the test. |
