- Adorkable/Mean Character, Nice Actor: Amy has stated that despite how angry, mad and pissed off her (and her band's) music, stage persona, and photo shoots are, she is actually quite nice and calm, sweet and according to all the behind the scenes of the music video features she's done, she is really secretly a dork who loves to laugh and make silly jokes...
- There are obviously debates about her habit of firing band members, and vibe of music.
- Broken Bird: Amy gives off this vibe through most of her musical work.
- Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: Amy. See Goth and Shiny Midnight Black below.
- Goth: The look she is best known for, but outside of performances she comes across more as a Perky Goth.

- I Am the Band: Amy is the only original member of Evanescence left.
- The Maiden Name Debate: She calls herself Mrs. Hartzler now.
- Old Shame: Will break down and cry if you bring up Evanescence's debut album, Origin, which is embarrassingly bad Christian pop rock. In fact, the only song they play live off of it nowadays is "Lies".
- Shiny Midnight Black: Her hair, whether natural or dyed, is a good example.
- Vocal Dissonance: Between her speaking voice and her singing voice. The difference is almost as profound as that for Jim Nabors -- she sings with powerful, rich, almost smoky tones but is high-pitched and chirpy (almost to the point of being a Genki Girl) when speaking.
