- Cliché Storm
- Cult Classic
- Designated Hero: Lots of them
- Hilarious in Hindsight:
- The Japanese bubble burst soon after this OVA was made.
- Writer Sho Aikawa would later go on to work on the 2003-2005 adaptation of Fullmetal Alchemist. Considering the plot of Conqueror of Shamballa, the blatant Anti-Semitism of Angel Cop becomes pretty hilarious.
- Memetic Mutation: If this is justice, then I'm a banana.
- Refuge in Vulgarity
- So Bad It's Good
- Unfortunate Implications: The villains (at first) are left-wing activists determined to create an egalitarian society. The good guys have no qualms with being employed by a totalitarian police state and enforcing its laws at least at first. Then there's the whole Anti-Jewish theme in the original version of the anime...
- Values Dissonance: In addition to the series' treatment of politics, one of the good guys is also implicitly in a pedophiliac relationship with a young girl.
- Visual Effects of Awesome: Some of the telekinetic scenes are pretty damn neat.
