Bad Boys/Trivia

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Actor Allusion: In the first movie, Julie asked Marcus if he "felt funny" and he answers "Well, I'm not a comedian..."
  • Actor Shared Background: Vic Manni, who plays one of Fouchet's bodyguards in the first movie, was the actual bodyguard of producer Don Simpson, who had hired him after being threatened by the Mafia. It's basically how he got into acting.
  • The Danza: Theresa Randle as Theresa Burnett.
  • Enforced Method Acting:
    • According to the commentary, while filming the "Driving Miss Daisy" scene, Martin Lawrence had complained to Michael Bay that Will Smith had called him a bitch and he didn't like it. You can guess what Bay told Smith to do next.
    • When the actor who played Megan's date Reggie showed up for filming, he was instructed by Martin Lawrence's bouncer that he mustn't look into Lawrence's eyes or talk to him. Lawrence was subsequently nasty to him and the actor also wasn't informed of the gun that Will Smith would pull on him in the scene. All part of a ploy by Michael Bay to make the actor look genuinely scared of Lawrence.
  • Hey, It's That Guy!:
    • The hacker convict is actually John Salley, former NBA player and TV personality.
    • In Bad Boys 2, Megan Fox was a dance extra in a club. She can be seen dancing for a few seconds.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Captain Sinclair in the first movie was played by Marg Helgenberger, who later became well-known as Catherine Willows in CSI.
  • Throw It In: Lawrence's "two bitches in the sea" line was totally improvised, as was his reaction to Leoni calling him gay.
  • What Could Have Been: The movie's original title was "Bulletproof Hearts" and was written for Jon Lovitz and Dana Carvey because of their work on Saturday Night Live. But when Simpson took the pair on a trip to Las Vegas to celebrate the upcoming movie, Simpson's notoriously wild behavior scared Carvey into pulling out of the project altogether, sending the film into turnaround and leading to the rights going from Disney to Columbia.
    • Mike Lowrey was originally going to be played by Arsenio Hall, until Michael Bay changed his mind after seeing an episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
