Bait is an Australian 3D killer shark film released in 2012.
In the film, set in a sleepy beach community, shoppers at an underground supermarket are terrorized by a crazed bandit when a tsunami swallows the town. Now trapped, as rushing water threatens to entomb them, the survivors discover that the tsunami has brought an unwanted visitor from the depths.
The film includes the following tropes:
- Disaster Movie: Mixed with a killer shark film.
- Dueling Movies: Bait was filmed around the same time as Shark Night, which was also a 3D shark film, though Shark Night was released first.
- Everything's Even Worse with Sharks
- Recycled in Space: It's Deep Blue Sea. . . in a supermarket!
- Super-Persistent Predator
- What Could Have Been: Originally, the shark was supposed to be a tiger shark.
