Barney's Version is a 2010 film, based on the award-winning novel of the same name by Mordecai Richler.
Directed by Richard Lewis, the film version stars Paul Giamatti as Barney (for which role he won a Golden Globe Award), Rachelle LeFevre as Clara, Minnie Driver as The Second Mrs. Panofsky, Rosamund Pike as Miriam, and Dustin Hoffman as Barney's father Izzy.
In addition to the tropes from Barney's Version, tropes used in the film version of Barney's Version include:
- Actor Allusion: The heroic Mountie in "O'Malley of the North" is played by Paul Gross.
- Casting Gag: Some might recognize Atom Egoyan and David Cronenberg playing the directors of "O'Malley of the North".
- Death by Sex: Barney's dad in the film version.
