Possibly Trope Maker and certainly Trope Codifier of Goth Rock. Bauhaus aren't just a goth band, they were the goth band. Although the band mainly performed Goth Rock and Post Punk, they were not limited by it and often explored their love of dub music.
When lead singer Peter Murphy left the band, the group changed their name to Love And Rockets (after the comic book), which was less successful in the UK but more successful in the US.

Bauhaus provides examples of the following tropes:
- Genre Roulette: Recorded quite a few dub reggae songs in addition to their better known gothic music. Mask also had a more pronounced Funk element in several of its songs.
- Goth Rock
- Post Punk
- Trope Codifier: For Goth Rock with "Bela Lugosi's Dead".
