• Periphery Hatedom: Asian-american minority groups, that is, American citizens, came with five stones on hand against this movie, accusing Sony (a Japanese company) of "whitewashing" and discrimination against Asians. In the native country of the novel, Japan, where it was first published, there was no such controversies, and author Kotaro Isaka, said such race changes were irrelevant, as his characters were not even real, and probably not Japanese.
