• And You Thought It Would Fail: When the developers first proposed this game, Midway absolutely hated it, but they allowed development to continue. The design team were under the assumption that the project could be canceled at any time, so they had a lot of creative control over the content, and the end result certainly shows it.

• Urban Legend of Zelda: For a while, there was an odd rumor that Umlautt was voiced by Frank Welker, who did Fred's voice in the old Scooby Doo cartoons. In truth, developer Jack Haegar did the voice.

• What Might Have Been:
  • Initially, the developers of this game were aiming for something more family-friendly, like the The Haunted Mansion with slightly more violence. As stated above, the Midway execs hated the idea, so they switched to something that was Bloodier and Gorier yet Denser and Wackier.
  • Of course, once it was a success, Midway had a lot of ideas on expanding it. One of them was to create an actual theme park interactive version for multiple parks globally, where guests could shoot at the monsters with light guns (kind of like a cross between the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and Lazer Tag). This would have even expanded the story in the game somewhat, with added scenes like a river ride, but it never came to pass.
