Carrera's Legions/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Designated Hero: Carrera, who's methods are rather questionable, is supposed to be the protagonist.
    • Arguably more of an Anti-Hero - while his methods are often horrific and his motivations are as much personal revenge as they are any desire to serve and protect, Carrera still is fighting only the villains (who are thoroughly horrible and without redeeming feature) and not harming any of the good people. Much. Although since the author clearly believes that Carrera doesn't have much 'anti' in his 'hero', he is also mixed in with this trope.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Both Carrera and Fernandez believe themselves to have crossed this line too much to hope for redemption. For some readers, Carrera crossed it as early as the end of the fifth chapter.
  • So Bad It's Good: With questionable writing, unimaginative worldbuilding, and over the top characters, some see the novel as rather entertaining.
  • What an Idiot!: The general modus operandi for the Salafi Ikhwan. Mustafa later becomes Dangerously Genre Savvy, but by then it's too little, too late.
