Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Is Brian just a guy who's been so traumatized by the things he's seen and done that he's just gone into pure survival mode no matter what the cost? Or is he just a selfish, jerkass bully just willing to stomp on anything that gets in his way and justifies it with necessity?
  • Fridge Logic: The way the group thinks that being out of fuel is such an automatic death sentence that it makes it okay to kill for it. Walking, checking towns for still-fueled cars, or alternative means of transport seems completely out of the question.
  • Jerkass: Brian, full stop. Even the rest of the group tells him what an asshole he is, both jokingly and seriously, and he makes many situations worse by just being an asshole.
    • Perhaps also Bobby, who had good reason to believe she was infected but told no one and got someone else infected in the process.
  • Moral Event Horizon: It's up to the viewer to decide if the group crosses the line, and when. When does the need to survive no longer justify your actions? Should you at least try to be compassionate when making hard choices or should you not even bother? Is refusing to seek a third option smart or heartless?
